The Petersburg High School cross country team had a flying finish to their season at the ASAA Division 3 State Championships last Saturday. The results of this year's municipal election were certified by the Petersburg Borough Assembly at a special meeting last Friday. Three ballots-two of which had been postmarked by election day and received by the borough and one questioned ballot-were counted during the meeting which brought the total number of ballots cast to 1,194. The ice skate pond is expected to be brightly lit during the dark winter months as the lighting project there nears completion according to Parks and Recreation Director Stephanie Payne. SEATTLE (AP) — Alaska officials have canceled the fall Bristol Bay red king crab harvest, and for the first time, have also scrapped the winter harvest of smaller snow crab. Peter O. Ellert, longtime resident of Petersburg, Alaska passed away on September 22, 2022. Pete was born on November 26, 1959 in Holyoke, Massachusetts and grew up in Blandford, a small town in western Massachusetts.
