    The Mitkof Middle School wrestling team went 57-37 at a tournament in Wrangell on Friday and Saturday with 53 of those victories coming by pin. “We did exceptionally well,” said Coach Jeff Davidson. “I think the other teams were a little shell shocked.” After the first day of the tournament when Petersburg went 28-16, some of the wrestlers got bumped up two or three weight classes in the second day of the tournament for better competition, said Davidson.     Petersburg hosted the Little Norway Tournament this past weekend with the boys junior varsity basketball team placing third overall and the Lady Vikings coming in second. The boys JV team lost their first game of the basketball tournament against Thunder Mountain 37-43, but they were able to make a comeback in their second game, which was against another Thunder Mountain team, and won 70-44.     The Petersburg High School boys varsity team won two out of three games in a basketball tournament in Nome over the weekend, and came in second place over all. On Thursday, the team’s first game was against Grace Christian School. The first quarter ended with the Vikings behind 10-12.     In Metlakatla, the boys varsity basketball team played two conference games on Friday and Saturday, followed by a regular season game in Ketchikan on Monday. The varsity team lost both games in Metlakatla 48-53 and 33-42. The junior varsity team also played in Metlakatla , and although they lost their game on Friday 17-30, they won on Saturday 15-10.     At the wrestling state tournament in Anchorage over the weekend, Petersburg's Ruby Massin won the girls state championship in the 125-pound weight class, which marks the first state championship in wrestling for Petersburg in eight years and the first won in the girls tournament.     The Devil's Thumb Shooters participated in the Southeast Fall Tournament, Oct. 27-28, at the Juneau Gun Club. Over 80 kids from Alaska participated and a team from Washington. The five returning members shot 18% better than last year in American Trap, increasing from 375 to 443 clays out of 500.
