    Both Petersburg Cross Country teams finished in the top five at the Wrangell Invitational on Saturday, with runners clocking personal records despite an uphill-finishing course. The men's team finished in fifth place, out of 10 teams competing, and the women's team finished in third among seven.     On July 9, Juneau based Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle that off of the roadway in Angoon. A State Trooper and Village Public Safety Officer responded and contacted the driver, Alan Zuboff, age 58 of Angoon. Alan was observed to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.     The Gatorade Company named a Petersburg High School graduate the best track and field athlete in Alaska last week; she joins an elite group of awardees including NFL Quarterback Robert Griffin III and Olympian Hurdler Lolo Jones.     On an ailing hip and no experience in long-distance races, 49-year-old Jo Ann Day took first place in the 18th annual Prince of Wales Marathon last month. “That was my first marathon,” said Day, who lives in Petersburg. “I was just running with hopes to finish. In the mens and womens varsity categories both, the team took second place after Sitka among 1-3A division schools, in terms of points. “It went as well as could be expected.     The basketball season comes to a close for the Petersburg girls, after placing third last week at the Region V Tournament in Juneau. “All of our games were definitely battles,” said girls coach Dino Brock. “All three of them, we played really good defense.” That showed in the team’s opening game against Craig on March 8.
