The weather finally cooperated with sunny conditions for the track and field teams last weekend in Ketchikan. PHS took over 30 athletes and 20 middle schoolers also made the trip to compete. The Petersburg High School track and field team kicked off their regular season schedule last weekend in Ketchikan, and the boys and girls both earned third place finishes. PHS had almost 35 athletes make the trip, but they were still the second smallest school at the meet. The Vikings dropped both games, losing 8-1 in the first game, and having the second game called after five innings with the Crimson Bears up 14-4. The Petersburg soccer team traveled to Juneau for a tournament held on March 11-13, and brought home third place. All of the opponents for Petersburg were from Juneau. Normally there is a team or two from Whitehorse at the tournament, but they did not make it this year. Twelve players made the trip, including 17-year-old Axel Vides.
