The Petersburg soccer team traveled to Juneau for a tournament held on March 11-13, and brought home third place. All of the opponents for Petersburg were from Juneau. Normally there is a team or two from Whitehorse at the tournament, but they did not make it this year. Twelve players made the trip, including 17-year-old Axel Vides. The Petersburg Wild Kings hockey team traveled to Juneau for the Rainforest Classic Old Timers Tournament held Feb. 26-28. The last time the Vikings took on the Chiefs the games went differently with the Vikings keeping Danny Marsden of Metlakatla in check. The Petersburg Ragnarök Rollers are back focusing on practice and training after a late-January trip to Palmer for the first matches of the season. The matches were partial 40-minute games, instead of the normal 60 minute matches. Organizers structured the single-day event this way to accommodate all the teams that showed up.
