    The Vikings basketball squad placed 4th at the Anchorage Christian School’s Invitational Tournament in Anchorage last weekend. The Vikings lost a tough first game 57-43 against Barrow. Head Coach Rick Brock said Barrow is one of the better quality teams in the state. “We played them last year and were looking forward to see where we’re at this time of the year,” Brock said.     The Lady Vikings blew the competition away last weekend during their first games of the season. The girl's squad beat Thorne Bay Friday evening 51-12. Grace Weller scored 17 points and Kyla Willis scored 8. "It was a great all around game," Head Coach Dino Brock said. "It was very balanced scoring."     The Petersburg Viking wrestling squad took 9th place in the state tournament in Anchorage last weekend-ahead of every other Southeast team. "We ended up in a good position," Assistant coach Ed May said. "We're very, very happy with the outcome."     The boys Viking basketball squad came home with a win from last weekend’s series against Ketchikan. They beat Ketchikan 58-46 on Friday night and lost a close game Saturday 46-55.     Sixteen 3rd through 5th grade girls participated in a finale 5K run last Saturday morning as part of the 'Girls on the Run' program. This winter is the first time the event has been held in Petersburg in four years. Joyce Burke-Biggs, Girls on the Run liaison, said the program consists of teaching various values.     The Vikings volleyball squad nearly beat the Sitka squad in what head coach Jaime Cabral described as a "heart wrenching" match last weekend during the regional double elimination tournament in Sitka.     The Petersburg High School wrestling team won the invitational tournament it hosted last weekend. Eleven schools from across Southeast attended the round robin tournament.     The Petersburg Vikings volleyball teams traveled to Sitka for conference games and Juneau for a tournament last week.     Vikings cross country runners were in Juneau for the season's last regular meet over the weekend. They ran against teams from throughout Southeast, with 76 girls and 92 boys competing in rainy, windy conditions.
