January 6, 1982 - A Jaw of Life machine, purchased after a successful fundraising campaign, is expected to be delivered to Petersburg by the end of January or the beginning of February according to Fire Department Capt. Doug Welde.
A total of $12,238 was raised for the machine since the Nov. 1 pick up-squad car accident on Mitkof Highway that left three officers injured. One officer, Scott Eddy, was not removed from the wreckage for 90 minutes because equipment was not available to pry wreckage away from him.
