Kupreanof resident Doug Leen first observed this moose swimming across the Narrows from Petersburg to Kupreanof last Thursday morning. “It reached the shoreline on my property (old Merriam place) and walked about a bit but was spooked back into the water. She attempted to swim back, but by now she was pretty exhausted and was carried by the ebbing current in the center of the Narrows towards town,” according to Leen.
