ASRC McGraw Construction workers and subcontractors spend Friday afternoon carting concrete from the window of the library to the vast area of floor to be poured. This was the first of two pours before the holiday to begin the flooring process.
Heat tubing has been installed throughout the library facility for the floor heating. This heating process will continue outside the building to the sidewalks and driveway as well.
The Petersburg Library project is continuing through the winter with satisfactory progress.
According to Petersburg City’s Onsite Construction Administrator Dan LaForce there have been some setbacks in schedule due to issues with special brackets needed for the glu-lam beams and valley rafters but the brackets and beams needed to complete the roof structure are on site and work started Dec. 11 to get that finished.
“I would expect dry-in by the end of the week,” LaForce stated. “There was temporary cover put on these areas and a milestone was hit about last week when the building was closed in and heat on, which started thawing the ground. There was a lot of frost but it was hindering the preparation for concrete slabs.”
LaForce explained that the ground is now completely thawed and there has been good progress in this area.
“I would expect the floors to be ready for the plumbers when they show up as scheduled to install the heat tubing,” LaForce stated. “The first slab pour will take place Dec. 21 just before the holidays and not much activity will take place after that until after the first of the year.”
