Fire at Crystal Lake Hatchery

Twisted framework and infrastructure at the Crystal Lake Hatchery incubation room continued to smolder Tuesday morning. Hatchery manager Loren Thompson estimated the structural damage at $3 million.

The Crystal Lake Hatchery incubation building was a total loss following an early morning fire Tuesday. About 1.2 million incubating fish were destroyed in the fire.

Smoke continued to rise from the rubble of the hatchery incubation room at Crystal Lake Hatchery on Tuesday morning.

Fire spread from the incubation room spread to the back-up generator shed destroying 2 generators at Crystal Lake Hatchery 17-miles south of Petersburg. Petersburg fire crews responded to the blaze and fought the fire in 9 degree temperatures.
