August 7, 1915 – The government cable has been out of commission since last Monday.
The cableship Burnside was making repairs on the line in the vicinity of Sitka last week, but is supposed to have left for the Sound, after which more breaks occurred. At any rate, nothing has been heard here this week as to the whereabouts of the vessel.
