Cemetery adds 320 niches by installing columbarium

Four units of columbarium were placed by crane on Monday at the cemetery. The cement and granite units weigh in at six tons each. In all, the columbarium will provide 320 burial niches for urns to the cemetery. Petersburg resident and commander of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, Paul Anderson, has been working with Parks and Rec Director Donnie Hayes to have the units installed at the cemetery. They are the first of their kind in Petersburg.
