Linda M. Abbott, 73

Linda M. Abbott, 73, passed away Jan. 23 in Anchorage, Alaska. Linda was born in Petersburg, Alaska to Harry and Helen (Bell) Bean Oct. 25, 1942.

Linda spent a large part of her younger years in Skagway, Alaska where she attended primary school and high school, graduating from Skagway High School. She also trained as EMS. Memberships included ANB/ANS and Assembly of God Church.

Linda had a variety of jobs. She spent time working in the local canneries, fished on her and her husband Wes' commercial troller, worked for a time in Kake as a Dispatch/Jailer for the local police department, and worked as a home health aide. She also served as an EMS volunteer. Linda met Harold (Wes) Abbott in 1970 and they married on July 1, 1972.

Linda enjoyed singing, keeping up with her large family, her cat (Boaz), flowers, cooking, fishing, Bible study, crocheting, berry picking, camping and traveling to visit her family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; step-father Merlin Bell, and sister, Arlene Hanson (Bell).

Linda is survived by her husband Harold W. Abbott Jr. (Wes); children and their spouses Stacey (Shelly) Hjort; Diane Abbott; Eric Hjort of Port Townsend, Wash.; Harold W. Abbott III (Hal) of Palmer, Alaska; Wendy (Glen) Duckworth of Burlington, Wash.; Jim (Carolyn) Bell of Anchorage, Alaska; Merlin (Linda) Bell of Juneau, Alaska; Harlan (Diana) Bell; Kevin (Max) Bell of Juneau, Alaska; Keith (Melissa) Bell of Juneau, Alaska; and Dean Bell. Linda is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she thought of as family.
