Ross Nannauck, III leads a parade down Nordic Dr. on Feb. 16 to celebrate Elizabeth Peratrovich Day. Elizabeth Peratrovich, born on July 4, 1911 in Petersburg, Alaska, was a member of the Lukaax̱.ádi clan, in the Raven moiety of the Tlingit nation. Together with her husband Roy she was a tireless advocate for the rights of Alaska Natives. Her testimony was considered key to the passage of the 1945 anti-discrimination bill, the first of its kind in the country.
