January 25, 1918 Councilmen Israelsen, Jorgenson, Otness, Steberg, Stoft, and Swanson were in attendance at the regular council meeting Monday evening. On motion, the clerk was instructed to write to the clerk of the district court setting forth the necessity that the city receive the 1917 cannery-tax money, which was paid to the court in December, to-wit: That the city is entirely out of funds and has an indebtedness at the bank of about $3,500, upon which it is paying ten per cent interest.
