Petersburg residents, along with other Alaskans need to participate in the larger debate on gun violence and steer clear of the knee-jerk reaction, to simply restrict gun sales.
We suspect that gun violence that could be perpetrated on most Alaskan communities would make use of a privately owned weapon, not one recently purchased from a firearms dealer or merchant.
