Elizabeth Walsh became the new director of the Clausen Memorial Museum on June 1, after a seamless transition from the previous director Kathi Riemer.
After hearing about the opening while finishing up her undergraduate degree in sociocultural anthropology at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Walsh, a resident of Petersburg, applied for the position as the new director of the museum. She was then hired by the museum's board of trustees.
