Marsha Fernandez's department champion woven bag on display at the library. She also entered the woven baskets category with one winning a blue ribbon and the other winning a judge's choice ribbon. The salve, lip balm, muscle rub and herbal insect repellent were entered into the Southeast State Fair by Andrea Weathers. They each won a blue ribbon, with the salve winning a division champion ribbon.
Petersburg won two department grand champion ribbons and 18 blue ribbons at the Southeast Alaska State Fair in Haines.
Thirty-nine residents submitted art projects, crafts and photography with nearly every entry winning a ribbon.
"That's the big thing,"
said Josef Quitslund, Petersburg's representative at the fair. "Sharing what people create."
