Wednesday night, the Sons of Norway hosted their 45th annual pickled herring contest. Contestants submitted in four categories: pickled herring, pickled seafood, smoked/cured seafood and smoked salmon. Judges sampled each of the dishes and named first, second and third place winners. Contestants could also submit a dish into the taster's choice category, which was judged by the public. In the pickled herring category, Sig Mathisen tied with himself for third place with his south of the border and traditional pickled herring. Glo Wollen placed second.
