Despite facing complications as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department continued responding to calls and keeping up with their training, clocking in a total of 4,153 volunteer hours last year, Fire Chief Jim Stolpe told the Borough Assembly at their meeting on Jan. 19.
"As you know, 2020 was a very unusual year due to COVID-19," said Stolpe. "The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department was not exempt from the restrictions and mitigation measures set forth by CDC, the state of Alaska and the borough."
