September 14, 1953 - April 3rd, 2021
Darcey Ruth (Rhoden) Judy passed away on April 3rd after a courageous fight with cancer; the same day 11 years ago she lost her mom, Ruthie Rhoden. Darcey was surrounded by family and her last days were spent at home amongst people who loved her dearly as they shared favorite stories and photos.
Darcey is survived by her husband of 49 years, Rod Judy, brother Cole Rhoden and his wife Charlie, kids Zach and Stacy Tomaszewski, Matt Judy and Andrea Hattan, Donel Judy, and granddaughter Alice Judy. Her parents, Dusty and Ruthie Rhoden, preceded her in passing and were reunited with her during the Easter weekend.
Born on September 14th, 1953, in Petersburg to Dusty and Ruthie Rhoden, Darcey grew up and lived her entire life in Southeast Alaska, predominantly in Petersburg. She held various jobs over the years, including the cannery, running a day care and a floral shop but is probably best known for starting Pacific Wing with Rod in 1985. During the time they owned Pac Wing, Darcey was an invaluable resource and familiar face to many people locally and to the accumulation of out-of-state regulars who came to hunt and fish each year. After retiring in 2011, Rod and Darcey traveled the west coast in their trailer and explored various mobile home communities. Ultimately, they preferred being at home with each other and their friends and family and sold the trailer to stay in Petersburg.
Darcey was a talented and avid quilter, creating works of art for many over the years. Her quilts and wall hangings are treasured and grace numerous homes. She loved her friends immensely and enjoyed coffee dates, quilting shows, garage sale-ing, and camping trips that were filled with laughter.
Darcey was a *beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, daughter, cousin, aunt, and friend to many. Known for being generous and loving, she leaves a discernable void in many people's daily lives. The family will be planning a memorial in June. In lieu of flowers, donations to Petersburg Medical Center would be appreciated.
