Ben (Claud Benjamin) Bishop, as of November 9, 2021, now rests in peace. He was born in Kelso, Washington on December 20, 1939.
He served in the Army from 1958-1962 spending time in France and Alaska (which he fell in love with.) After the Army, he met Geneva, the love of his life, and began his career as a fish culturist in Oregon until he got the opportunity to return to Alaska in 1974. He worked for and retired from Crystal Lake Fish Hatchery in Petersburg.
Everyone who met this one-of-a-kind, great hearted gentle giant loved him. He loved the time he spent bringing joy to everyone in Petersburg during his "special season" (and during the off-season.)
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Geneva; son Tim (Tammy) Bishop of Sanford, North Carolina; daughters Billie (Henry) Symons of Soldotna, Alaska and Lucelia (Ricky) Graves of Kodiak, Alaska; grandchildren Ben Bishop and Jerrica (Bishop) Bardwell, Brittany and Rebecca Abrams, Jessica and Richard Chat Graves; and great-grandchildren Landon, Harli-Ann, Jenna, Karson, Knox, and Axel.
Out of respect for his wishes, there will not be any services.
Ben would like for you to remember the good times and to always keep the joy of the season in your hearts.
