September 1, 1922 While wandering on the beach at LaTouche recently Elmer Garnes, of Cordova, came upon a find of fifty pounds of ambergris. Word of the find was received in Cordova where Elmer’s friends will congratulate him on his luck. Ambergris is, according to scientific definition, a growth induced in the stomach of a whale that eventually produces fatal results. It is a very rare product and is mainly used in the manufacture of high grade perfumes.
