Around 30 paddlers on kayaks and paddleboards and around 45 bicycle pedalers launched from Scow Bay on Saturday morning. Those on the water got a one-hour headstart and traveled north out the Wrangell Narrows for the first four or so miles, then east along the shore of Frederick Sound. The pedalers rode Mitkof Highway to and through downtown Petersburg. The event's participants converged on Sandy Beach Park for a potluck barbeque and raffle prizes drawings. Between the participation donations and the sponsorship of athletes in the event, the event raised over $16 thousand for Petersburg Medical Center's continuing education programs.
