A rainbow aurora storm

As the last rays of sunlight sink below the horizon last Friday evening, an astronomical show of the northern lights begins. Petersburg stargazers heeded the first severe geomagnetic storm watch issued in nearly 20 years, and the clouds parted in the evening enough to provide an especially impressive light show.
