The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Anthony Petit gets into position to fix a red marker at the mouth of Wrangell Narrows on Oct. 14, 2024. The navigational buoy (62) had drifted out of position weeks ago, reportedly near the shore of Kupreanof Island. Coast Guard crew aboard the Ketchikan-based, 175-foot keeper-class coastal buoy tender retrieved the large, heavy red marker and reinstalled it back in the buoy's proper location at the mouth of the narrows, seen from the northern shore of Mitkof Island on Monday.
