The Mitkof Middle School Lego Robotics team is all smiles holding their first-place trophy after winning the Innovation Award for their remotely operated underwater vehicle, on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, in Anchorage. The team advances to the national competition for the first time in program history.
The Mitkof Middle School Lego Robotics team recently competed in the state competition in Anchorage. The tournament was composed of 29 schools across Alaska, and Petersburg's team placed fourth overall, qualifying – for the first time ever –for the national meet held in Worcester, Massachusetts, in June.
Petersburg's team's remotely operated vehicle project took first place in the category for innovation to help solve real world problems. Innovation was one of the four categories the team competed in.
