The Petersburg Borough Assembly unanimously passed the first reading of Ordinance #2025-04 on April 7, moving forward the plans to establish a Marine Industrial Overlay (MIO) zone to preserve waterfront areas for maritime uses.
The ordinance would create special zoning restrictions to ensure specific tidelands in the Port Dock and Scow Bay areas remain dedicated to commercial fishing and maritime operations.
